The Heavy Metal Hippy
I started pour painting around the beginning of 2018. At this time, I was just sharing some of the paintings I thought was cool with my friends on Facebook. After a while, I saw some genuine interest in the art I was creating, and I wanted to create an online identity I could use to share my art with everyone and @the.heavy.metal.hippy was born.
I wanted a logo that I could use to visually represent my journey and the life experiences that led me to craft in the first place. Thomas McKinney is a talented local artist who designed the logo for Survived By No One. I inquired about a commissioned piece, and he brought my ideas to life. The hourglass represents life, and the little time we have. We never know when our final grain of sand will fall to the bottom of the hourglass.
I wanted my astrological sign, Gemini, to be represented. The Gemini symbol ♊ encases the hourglass.
The sands are colored peach and teal, to represent gynecological cancers and my journey with endometrial cancer.
The conjoined twins represent both infertility and the Gemini.
It is dark, it is meaningful, it is beautiful. It is a perfect representation of me and my journey.
The original artwork was drawn by skullytom2 and I digitally enhanced the screenshot below using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
